Two of four prisoners who tunnelled to freedom from Bali's Kerobokan jail have been recaptured - but an Australian inmate is still on the loose.

The pair, Bulgarian national Dimitar Nikolov Iliev, who was serving seven years for money laundering and Sayed Mohammed from India who was jailed for 14 years for drug offences, were found in Timor-Leste at 2pm local time, Badung District Police Chief Yudith Satriya Hananta told AAP.

Fairfax reports the pair were found at a luxury resort in Timor-Leste's capital Dili.

However Perth man Shaun Davidson, 33, and Malaysian man Tee Kok King remain at large.

It's believed the four squeezed through a narrow tunnel to make their escape.

Davidson, who was sentenced for immigration offences last year after using another man's passport, had just two months and 15 days left to serve.

He was going to be deported to Australia where he is facing a number of drug charges in Perth.

The men made a brazen escape on Monday sometime after 6.30am and are believed to have dug a 12-metre long tunnel underneath one of the jail's walls, police said.
