Kyrgyzstan ratifies agreement with Uzbekistan on confidence-building measures in border area

Bishkek, Jan. 22, 2018. / Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov signed the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic "On ratification of the agreement between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Uzbekistan on confidence-building measures in the border area", signed on Oct. 6, 2017 in Tashkent", the President's press service reported.

The law was passed by the Jogorku Kenesh on December 21, 2017.

The aim of the Agreement is to regulate the issues related to the relationship between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan in strengthening security and confidence, maintaining calm and stability in the Kyrgyz-Uzbek state border area.

The agreement will allow cooperation on regional security and stability issues, combating terrorism and illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs, countering new challenges and threats, as well as illegal migration across the state border.

This Law shall enter into force ten days after the date of its official publication.
