Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested an CPWD Assistant Engineer, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, in a case relating to acceptance of Rs 1,00,000 as bribe from a complainant. CBI registered a case against Assistant Engineer on a complaint that accused demanded a bribe of Rs 5.50 lakh for allowing him to continue the construction work unhindered, of residential colony at Seemadwar, Dehradun.

Firing between Assam Rifles, militants in Assam

An encounter took place between Assam Rifles personnel and suspected militants in Assam's Tinsukia district on Tuesday, a defence source said. "An incident involving suspected militants took place in the morning. We are awaiting details," he said. "We are yet to receive inputs from the spot and we can share further details only later," the source said. A police source in Tinsukia said Assam Rifles vehicles were fired upon near Namdang in Margherita, PTI reported.

Prime Minister Modi said that the upcoming Lok Sabha election is for 'Viksit Bharat' and 'Viksit Bihar'. Addressing a public rally in Gaya, the Prime Minister said that Congress lost the opportunity to make India a 'Samridh Bharat'.

PM Modi also accused the Congress and RJD of playing politics in the name of social justice. He went on to say that the RJD has given only two things to Bihar - 'jungle raj' and 'corruption'. Corruption flourished like industry during RJD regime in Bihar, he added.

A Delhi court on Monday sent BRS leader K Kavitha, arrested in connection with a corruption case linked to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam, to judicial custody till April 23.

The daughter of former Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao was arrested from the Tihar Jail, where she was lodged after her arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
