Breaking News Highlights, 16 April 2024 Latest News Today: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the BJP’s ‘Sankalp Patra’ is being called a ‘guarantee card’. He made the remarks while addressing a poll rally in Bihar’s Gaya. “Two days ago, BJP released its ‘Sankalp Patra’. This is the first time, a party’s ‘Sankalp Patra’ is being called a ‘guarantee card’,” he said.

    An encounter took place between Assam Rifles personnel and suspected militants in Assam's Tinsukia district on Tuesday, a defence source said. "An incident involving suspected militants took place in the morning. We are awaiting details," he said. "We are yet to receive inputs from the spot and we can share further details only later," the source said. A police source in Tinsukia said Assam Rifles vehicles were fired upon near Namdang in Margherita, PTI reported.

    No relief to Arvind Kejriwal from Supreme Court on plea challenging arrest

    The Supreme Court today sought a response from the Enforcement Directorate in a plea filed by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, contesting his arrest in a money-laundering case related to the alleged excise policy scam.

    A bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta issued a notice to the ED, responding to Kejriwal's challenge against the Delhi High Court's decision upholding his arrest.

    The bench instructed the ED to submit its reply to the plea by April 24. The court scheduled the matter for hearing during the week starting April 29.

    Washing cars and watering lawns has also been completely banned till June 30, keeping in view the rising temperatures during the summer, which often causes a shortage in water supply. The ban will be in effect from 5.30 to 8.30 am everyday.
