Duke University's media relations office is going to need some Lorazepam: Jason Isaacs does not intend to retire his Duke T-shirts any time soon.

The White Lotus actor responded to Duke's disapproval of the show featuring the university's logo on the latest Thailand-set season 3, quipping that he intends to wear a Duke T-shirt "whenever there's a camera around." And he now owns plenty.

Appearing on the latest episode of SiriusXM's Literally! With Rob Lowe, Isaacs said he was recently gifted the T-shirts by fans at a convention in Virginia. "People drove from Durham, N.C., very sweetly, to come. They drove just to tell me that they thought my accent was accurate and I shouldn't listen to the people who don't know what a Durham, N.C., accent is, and they brought me Duke T-shirts."

"So I now have a selection of Duke T-shirts," Isaacs said. "I didn't wear one today. If I'd known, I'd have it on now, but I am intending to wear them whenever there's a camera around. So sorry, Duke. There goes my honorary degree."

Isaacs starred as Timothy Ratliff, a wealthy businessman on vacation in Thailand with his North Carolinian family, in the latest season of the HBO satire. His getaway was anything but relaxing as he attempted to shield his family from the serious legal troubles that awaited him at home due to his involvement in a money-laundering scheme. Isaacs famously donned a Duke T-shirt in a dream sequence that featured a murder-suicide — and Duke did not appreciate it.

"Duke University did not approve the use of its marks in The White Lotus,” the university said in a statement, acknowledging that while they appreciate "artistic expression and creative storytelling," the T-shirt "creates confusion and mistakenly suggests an endorsement or affiliation where none exists.”

The show “not only uses our brand without permission," the university added, "but in our view uses it on imagery that is troubling, does not reflect our values or who we are, and simply goes too far.”

"I'm pretty sure they got it cleared because as you know, you don't ever go on television without getting all the logos cleared," Isaacs told Lowe when asked about the "hubbub" surrounding the shirt. "Well, someone at Duke decided that was really untoward and was not happy with the association. Other people online were pointing out that there are real life alumni of Duke to be far more worried about than a fictional alumni."

Watch Isaacs discuss the hubbub above.
